The world of Gintama is known for its sharp comedy, chaotic energy, and surprisingly emotional storytelling. Now, fans have even more to look forward to with the spin-off anime Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class. A brand new trailer and key visual were released, along with the announcement that the series will officially premiere on October 6, 2025.

Based on Tomohito Osaki’s spin-off novel series, the anime will be produced by Bandai Namco Pictures. Makoto Moriwaki is serving as the chief director, with Natsumi Higashida directing. The anime first made its debut appearance during Anime Expo 2025, and ever since, anticipation has been building among fans of the franchise.

Music has always been an integral part of the Gintama experience, and this spin-off is no different. The opening theme will be “Sakurakaze” by BOTCHI BOROMARU, while the ending theme will be “Underclass HERO” by LONGMAN. Both songs are featured in the newly released trailer, adding to the excitement.

Perhaps the most thrilling reveal for longtime fans is the confirmation that the original cast is returning to voice their iconic characters. Tomokazu Sugita is once again voicing the eccentric Gintoki Sakata, Rie Kugimiya returns as Kagura, and Daisuke Sakaguchi is reprising his role as Shinpachi Shimura. The newly revealed visual showcases the entire classroom, capturing the quirky school setting that fans of the Class 3-Z Ginpachi-sensei novel will instantly recognize.

Behind the scenes, the production team boasts several notable names, including Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handling character design, Shinji Takeuchi as the chief animation director, and Audio Highs taking charge of the soundtrack. With such a talented team at the helm, expectations for the spin-off are high.

The original Gintama manga by Hideaki Sorachi ran from 2003 to 2019 and inspired over 360 episodes, several films, OVAs, games, and specials. The most recent film, Gintama: The Very Final, premiered in 2021 and was seen as the ultimate conclusion to the series. However, this new adaptation shows that the world of Gintama still has plenty of surprises to deliver.

Adding to the excitement, the fan-favorite Yoshiwara in Flames arc was also recently announced to be receiving a fully reanimated movie adaptation, set to premiere in 2026.

Final Thoughts
With Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class set to premiere this October, fans of Gintama will once again be treated to the perfect mix of absurd humor and heartfelt moments. The return of the original cast, combined with new creative energy from the staff, makes this one of the most anticipated anime releases of the year.
