Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 has officially begun, and with its premiere on July 19, fans were treated to an exciting surprise from the creators. The anime's official X account shared a striking new character visual of Gen Narumi, who is introduced in the very first episode of the season. Narumi’s arrival marks a key turning point in the storyline as he takes command as captain of the First Division, showcasing both strength and charisma that have instantly made him a standout character.
Voiced by Koki Uchiyama, Narumi is already being recognized for his commanding presence and action-driven sequences. Known as Japan’s strongest anti-kaiju combatant, his role promises to bring new energy and conflict to the evolving plot. The newly released visual emphasizes his intensity and leadership, setting the tone for what fans can expect in the coming episodes.
The animation for Season 2 continues under the expert hands of Production I.G, with Studio Khara handling the design and movement of the monstrous kaiju that have become synonymous with the franchise. The visual style remains faithful to the original manga’s tone while elevating the action with more dynamic and cinematic flair.
In addition to the visuals, music continues to play a big role in Kaiju No. 8’s worldbuilding. The season’s opening track, “You Can’t Run From Yourself” by Aurora, sets an emotional yet urgent tone. Complementing it is the new ending song, “Beautiful Colors,” performed by global pop band OneRepublic, whose return to the project has been warmly welcomed by fans.
The second season arrives just as the manga officially concludes. Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 ended its serialization this week with Chapter 129, bringing to a close a manga journey that began in 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform. With 15 volumes published so far, the story's ending adds even more momentum to the anime’s current run. Viz Media continues to publish the manga in English, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Beyond the anime and manga, the franchise is also expanding into the gaming world. Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME made its debut at Anime Expo 2025 with a playable demo that attracted considerable attention. The game has already crossed over 300,000 global pre-registrations and is scheduled for release later this year, giving fans another medium through which to experience the kaiju battles they love.
With Gen Narumi’s debut, a fresh season underway, and multiple expansions across platforms, Kaiju No. 8 is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about anime titles of the year. The new visual is not just a character spotlight, but a reminder of the high-stakes battles and compelling storylines that lie ahead.
