The upcoming romantic comedy anime My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me has officially confirmed its October 4 premiere. Alongside the release date, the production team unveiled a new trailer and key visual, giving fans their first real taste of the humor, drama, and relationships at the heart of the story.

Studio BLADE is animating the series under the direction of Kazuomi Koga. Toko Machida is in charge of scriptwriting, and Katsuyuki Sato is serving as character designer. The anime adapts the light novel written by Mikawa Ghost with illustrations by Tomari. A manga adaptation illustrated by Hira Hiraoka is currently serialized in Square Enix’s Manga Up! magazine, while Comikey is publishing it in English.

Story and Background

The light novel series began in 2019 and has built a strong following for its comedic yet heartfelt approach to romance. J-Novel Club is licensing the series in English and describes the story as the tale of Akiteru Ooboshi, a boy who is constantly teased and misunderstood by every girl around him. Despite his lack of luck in love, his priority is ensuring a spot for his game-development club at his uncle’s company. When his uncle sets a condition that requires him to act as his daughter’s boyfriend, Akiteru reluctantly agrees. But complications arise when his best friend’s mischievous younger sister Iroha enters the picture, leading to chaos, misunderstandings, and comedic drama.
