The anime adaptation of My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s continues to build excitement ahead of its October 2025 premiere with the release of a special character trailer for Yoru. This magical beast takes the form of a sleek black cat and will be voiced by Sanae Kobayashi, a voice actor known for her versatile performances.

Produced by Studio SUNRISE under the direction of Nobuyoshi Habara, the series has already completed all its episodes well before launch, ensuring a polished and consistent adaptation. Alongside Yoru’s reveal, the trailer offers another glimpse into the atmospheric world of assassins, spirits, and royal conspiracies that lie at the heart of this story.

The anime features an impressive creative team with Kunihiko Okada handling series composition and scriptwriting, while Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito bring the characters to life through their designs. Rihiro Yamane has taken charge of monster designs, and Mitsuru Ishihara joins as the main animator. The music is composed by Satoshi Igarashi, adding to the immersive fantasy tone.

The voice cast brings together notable talent, with Takeo Otsuka as Akira Oda, Saku Mizuno as Amelia Rosequart, Konomi Tamura as Lia Lagoon, and Junichi Suwabe as Saran Mislei. Fans have already heard them in the previously released main trailer, which also previewed the opening theme song “Issen” (Flash), performed by the virtual duo VESPERBELL.

Based on the light novel series written by Matsuri Akai and illustrated by Tozai, the story began as a web novel in 2017 before being picked up by Overlap Bunko later that year. It follows Akira Oda, an ordinary student whose unremarkable presence hides extraordinary power when he is transported to another world. With stats that surpass the chosen hero and the help of the elven spirit Amelia, Akira becomes a silent but deadly assassin who soon discovers dark truths about the kingdom that summoned him.

The series also has a manga adaptation by Hiroyuki Aigamo, while Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed both the light novel and manga in English, giving international audiences the chance to dive into Akira’s journey before the anime hits screens.

With Yoru now officially introduced, anticipation for the anime’s debut grows stronger. Fans can look forward to an adventure filled with intrigue, high stakes battles, and a hero whose assassin status makes him far more dangerous than anyone expected.
