Oshi no Ko is embracing the spirit of summer with a vibrant new visual featuring Ruby Hoshino at the beach. The illustration celebrates Marine Day 2025 in Japan, a national holiday observed every third Monday of July. Also known as Ocean Day, it honors the country's deep relationship with the sea. This year, fans were treated to a seasonal artwork that showcases Ruby basking in the sunlight, enjoying a rare moment of peace away from the pressures of stardom.
Following the spring visual that spotlighted Memcho for Greenery Day in May, this Marine Day edition shifts the focus to Ruby. The cheerful beachside setting and Ruby’s playful expression have quickly captured attention online, with fans praising the visual’s bright aesthetic and subtle storytelling. These visuals have become a charming tradition for Oshi no Ko, keeping fans connected to the characters even between seasons.
The anime adaptation of Oshi no Ko is helmed by Studio Doga Kobo, which brought the story to life with strong direction from Daisuke Hiramaki. Ciao Nekotomi serves as assistant director, with character designs by Kanna Hirayama and music composed by Takuri Iga. The main cast continues to deliver heartfelt performances, featuring Takeo Otsuka as Aquamarine Hoshino, Yurie Igoma as Ruby Hoshino, Megumi Han as Kana Arima, Manaka Iwami as Akane Kurokawa, Rumi Okubo as Memcho, Lynn as Miyako Saito, and Rie Takahashi as Ai Hoshino.
Oshi no Ko began as a manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was serialized in Weekly Young Jump by Shueisha starting in April 2020. The series concluded its manga run in November 2024 after capturing a massive global fanbase with its emotionally intense plot and deep exploration of the entertainment industry.
With two successful anime seasons already completed, anticipation is growing for the upcoming third season, which is currently in production and set to release in 2026. Meanwhile, the franchise’s live-action movie adaptation, which offered a complete retelling of the story, wrapped up its worldwide theatrical run after releasing in December 2024. Both the anime and the live-action version have helped Oshi no Ko expand its cultural reach beyond manga readers, pulling in new fans through streaming platforms and global cinema.
This Marine Day visual is not just a piece of artwork. It serves as a reminder of the series’ enduring impact and its commitment to keeping characters alive in the hearts of viewers even during off-seasons. Ruby’s beach scene is a simple yet powerful nod to the idea that even those burdened with fame deserve a little sunshine. The image gives fans something to smile about while waiting for the next chapter in her story.
