After a long hiatus, the controversial yet oddly popular anime Show Me Your Panties While You Give Me That Disgusted Look! is returning to screens with a new anime titled Show Me Your Panties While You Give Me That Disgusted Look! R (Returns). This latest project comes as part of a commemorative celebration marking a decade since the series first gained traction in Japan’s doujin and anime circles.
The announcement was made with the release of a teaser visual that reintroduces fans to the tone and style of the original series. UWAN Pictures will once again lead the animation production, continuing their involvement from the previous two seasons. Saya Fukase has been confirmed as the director, and the production team appears committed to staying faithful to the distinctive format that originally earned the series its cult following.
In addition to the anime announcement, the creators will host a 10th anniversary illustration exhibition from August 22 to August 31 at Art Gallery AKIHABARA in Tokyo. The event is expected to feature key visuals, original sketches, and exclusive artwork spanning the series' run since its doujinshi origins.
The original anime began as an adaptation of a doujin project by artist 40hara. It launched its first short-format season in July 2018 with six episodes, followed by a second season in November 2019. While the series raised eyebrows for its premise, it found a loyal niche audience thanks to its quirky concept and unapologetic humor.
The returning cast includes several well-known voice actors from the previous seasons. Shizuka Ishigami reprises her role as Chitose Ito, joined by Sawako Hata, Haruka Yoshimura, Aoi Koga, Chinatsu Akasaki, Yuki Nagano, Sumire Uesaka, Natsumi Takamori, Reina Ueda, and Ayana Taketatsu. Each character adds a distinct layer of personality to the ensemble, which features a rotating cast of girls reacting with exaggerated disgust as they flash their panties in absurd scenarios.
While the subject matter is clearly aimed at a specific subset of the anime fandom, the production has always leaned into its bizarre charm and comedic absurdity. Despite its polarizing nature, Show Me Your Panties While You Give Me That Disgusted Look! has maintained relevance through internet culture and niche fan communities who appreciate its outlandish satire.
The new anime is expected to follow the same short-episode format, combining visual gags, awkward tension, and intentional discomfort for comedic effect. More details regarding the release date, streaming availability, and episode count will be revealed closer to its premiere.
For fans who have followed the series since its beginnings or for newcomers curious about its offbeat reputation, this anniversary edition may offer a fresh take on the unapologetic humor that made it stand out in the first place.
