Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continues to raise the bar with its cinematic ventures. As Part 1 of the highly anticipated Infinity Castle arc titled Akaza’s Return hits Japanese theaters, a brand-new IMAX visual has been released, this time showcasing Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka in a powerful, visually arresting pose. The illustration has been created by the anime’s renowned studio, Ufotable, and marks the very first specially designed IMAX key visual for the series.
The film made its domestic debut in Japan on July 18 and is now screening in IMAX theaters across the country. This new phase of the Demon Slayer saga is expected to mark the beginning of the final chapters of the anime, promising intense confrontations and visually ambitious sequences. International fans will not have to wait long either, as the movie is scheduled for release across various global territories between August 14 and September 25.
The new visual is more than just a promotional poster. It represents Ufotable’s commitment to cinematic storytelling and high-fidelity action scenes that hold up even on the towering scale of an IMAX screen. The image captures both Tanjiro’s unwavering resolve and Giyu’s stoic strength, as the duo prepares to face off against formidable enemies within the ever-twisting labyrinth of the Infinity Castle.
Accompanying the IMAX release are two new promotional trailers that give fans a taste of the upcoming action and the emotional stakes of this chapter. These teasers also feature the series' new theme songs, performed by two of its most iconic vocalists LiSA and Aimer whose work has become inseparable from the emotional journey of Demon Slayer.
This film follows a rich legacy of previous anime milestones within the franchise. The original manga by Koyoharu Gotoge was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020 and concluded with 23 volumes. The anime adaptation started in 2019 with a 26-episode season, and its popularity exploded with the release of the blockbuster Mugen Train film in 2020. That film set records and helped trigger a wider boom in theatrical anime releases.
Following that success, the story continued with multiple seasons. Season 2 included a re-edited version of Mugen Train followed by the Entertainment District arc. Season 3 adapted the Swordsmith Village arc and aired in 2023. Season 4 set the foundation for the final battle and concluded in June 2024.
Alongside the anime’s rollout, fans are also looking forward to the next major game in the franchise. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2 is set for global release on August 5. Available on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, it promises to build on the success of its predecessor and further expand the universe through interactive storytelling.
As the Infinity Castle saga begins its journey across global screens, the latest IMAX visual cements the series' transition from a beloved manga to one of the most influential anime franchises of the modern era. With Tanjiro and Giyu now leading the charge in larger-than-life format, fans can expect breathtaking visuals, emotionally charged battles, and a storytelling crescendo that will define the climax of Demon Slayer’s legacy.
