The series, written and illustrated by Susumu Maeya, follows maid-in-training Suzume Tachibana as she discovers the joys of Japanese cuisine, blending slice-of-life warmth with mouthwatering food moments. The anime will be produced by EMT Squared and Magic Bus, with Kana Ichinose confirmed as the voice of Suzume.

Ryousuke Senbo is directing the anime, while Natsuko Takahashi and Saeka Fujimoto are handling the scripts. Manga Background

The original manga began serialization in December 2019 on Kodansha’s Comic Days digital platform and has been collected into four volumes. Kodansha USA is publishing the series in English, introducing international readers to Suzume’s culinary adventures. The story centers on Suzume Tachibana, who finds herself unexpectedly staying in Japan for a year. With time on her hands, she embarks on a delightful journey of tasting traditional Japanese food, from sweet taiyaki and melon bread to savory takoyaki and onigiri. Each chapter celebrates food not only as a source of nourishment but as a way of connecting to culture and joy.
