MAPPA has done it again. The studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Attack on Titan Final Season has struck gold with Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc, which has rapidly climbed the box office charts to rival some of the biggest anime films in US history.

According to recent box office reports, the Reze Arc film has already earned over 33 million dollars domestically and is expected to finish with a total between 40 and 45 million dollars. That figure would place it above Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s 34.5 million run, making Chainsaw Man the fifth-highest-grossing anime movie ever released in the United States.

This achievement is especially notable given the film’s dark tone and mature themes. Unlike Demon Slayer or Pokémon, Chainsaw Man is not family-friendly — yet its gripping violence, emotional storytelling, and raw visual flair have drawn massive audiences. Fans and critics alike have praised MAPPA’s faithful adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Reze Arc,” calling it one of the studio’s boldest works yet.

Despite fierce competition, Reze Arc continues to perform steadily week after week. Box office analyst Luiz Fernando noted that the film’s Tuesday numbers dropped by less than 45 percent from the previous week — an impressive hold that points to strong word-of-mouth. At this pace, Chainsaw Man will soon surpass The Boy and the Heron, placing it among anime’s most elite performers in the US.

While Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle remains unbeatable at the top with over 130 million dollars, Chainsaw Man’s victory represents a major cultural milestone. It proves that even unconventional, edgy anime can achieve mainstream box office success in the West.

For MAPPA, this is validation that audiences are ready for darker, riskier stories that push boundaries. With a potential second season of Chainsaw Man slated for 2026, the studio’s momentum shows no sign of slowing down.
