Assassination Classroom continues to honor its ten-year milestone with the announcement of a brand-new radio program, titled “TV Anime 10th Anniversary Assassination Classroom All Night Nippon GOLD.” The special will broadcast on August 22, 2025, from 10 PM to midnight on Nippon Broadcasting System in Japan. This radio project serves as the second major commemorative initiative following the use of new theme songs during the rebroadcast of the anime in Japan. With more anniversary surprises expected in the coming months, this event is already sparking nostalgia and excitement among fans.
This celebration is more than just a retrospective. It promises to reunite key voice cast members, revisit unforgettable moments from the show’s run, and explore behind-the-scenes stories that defined the journey of Class 3E and their eccentric, high-speed teacher. Listeners can expect engaging commentary, character insights, and emotional reflections on how the series evolved from a beloved manga to one of the most uniquely thrilling anime experiences of the last decade.
Created by Yusei Matsui, who is also known for The Elusive Samurai, Assassination Classroom began its life as a manga serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2016. Over the course of 21 volumes, the manga gained widespread acclaim and surpassed 25 million copies in circulation by the end of its run. The English version is published by Viz Media, continuing to attract readers across the world.
The anime journey started with an OVA by Brain’s Base in 2013, before Studio Lerche took over with a full series in 2015. The main anime aired across two seasons, totaling 47 episodes, and concluded in mid-2016. It also received an additional OVA bundled with the first Blu-ray and DVD release, followed by the feature-length Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days in November 2016.
The show’s unforgettable voice cast includes Jun Fukuyama as the iconic Koro-sensei, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Karma Akabane, and Mai Fuchigami as Nagisa Shiota, alongside several other acclaimed actors who helped bring the classroom to life. The series was later adapted into two live-action films and continues to find new fans through streaming platforms such as Crunchyroll.
At the heart of Assassination Classroom is a strange yet powerful idea. What begins as a bizarre sci-fi plot about students tasked with assassinating their teacher turns into a deeply emotional and philosophical journey about growth, mentorship, and resilience. Koro-sensei, the tentacled being threatening to destroy the Earth, becomes an unlikely symbol of hope and transformation, turning Class 3E into a place of redemption, self-discovery, and unexpected beauty.
With this special radio program, the creators are not only celebrating a decade of storytelling but also inviting the audience to reflect on how far the characters, the fandom, and even the creators themselves have come. The show’s legacy remains strong, and these anniversary projects are a testament to its lasting impact on anime culture.
